Sometimes you just need the periodic table

The latest (and greatest) updates on our Middie Mom are here and they are hotter than ever!   First off, regarding the latest transfusion, the lady who took MM's 3 tubes of blood put the transfusion bracelet on her .  That started our day at the HGC.  I could tell MM was VERY CONCERNED with this lady.....
Nurse Ratchet in the house
Then we WAITED what seemed like forever in the waiting room.  MM's red/white cells, platelets, and hemoglobin all dropped.  The good news is that her ANC didn't drop or go up, it's still 0.6.
That means we're still on a highway to the danger zone, and the doctor is expecting cells to drop even more this week due to the chemo. So, please pray!

Good news however as Dr. Rosenfetus was encouraged that the ANC had not dropped and he's hoping it will be above 1 when the cells start to rise again. Mom got her last chemo for this rotation and she got her arasnap shot.

Please pray about the potential for side effects and also that big nasty bump on her leg.  While you're at it, please pray for a few other things in her body:  iron levels to come down, good cholesterol and magnesium levels to go up.....I've copied a chart of the periodic table so you can pray for each of these elements any others that are acting up!

Also, pray for Porkie Pop's legs, during the day he's ok, but at night....yikes!!

Love you all so very much.  Thanks for your faithful prayers, love, cards, gifts, food, and other expressions of love.

We love you all and thank God for all of you.

Love and Prayers,

Auntie Ann

The OCNJ Winter Spectacular

In some exciting news, a few members of Team Doughten had the privilege of staying at the Flander's on President's Day weekend as a birthday celebration for Uncle Harry and Little Faithie.

Some highlights of the weekend:

- everyone watched the movie "Courageous" on Derek's stolen, that is to say..."rented" DVD player.

- they attended Ocean City Baptist Church but the preacher was nervous and did not give an altar call (silly calvanist).

- there was a mandatory Sunday lunch at the Cawb Tawp (translation: Crab Trap) and no one even got sick (way to go Harry and T!).

- the mothership and her battle group went down to Asbury for some shopping and unlike our federal government, they actually came back with a surplus of cash!  (maybe aunt linda is the next sarah palin?)

- lastly, someone got hit in the head with a pillow (let's just not talk about it)

all in all it was a great weekend, and the Penthouse Suite was beautiful!

Enjoy the pictures, more to come later!

if you look closely, you can see Atlantic City far off in the distance

All God's Little Helpers

Our church was sponsoring a "Kids Against Hunger" event ... this is a wonderful ministry who seeks to feed a million kids a year in starving countries around the world.  Our church has several laypeople who have been to Haiti on missions trips to do service projects.  And another trip is being planned for this summer - and one of their projects will be to see where this food is being distributed to needy starving families.  Their website is  http://www.kidsagainsthunger.org/

Our church packaged more than 1080 meals for this project in less than 2 hours ... two more service project days for preparing the meals bags will be scheduled in April and June.  Each bag has the nutrients and balanced meal for a family of 4. - Uncle Steph

A Late Post Is Still Sometimes A Good Post!

I am very thankful to report that Middie Mom's report on Monday, February 13th at the HGC was MUCH BETTER than last week. Her red cells, white cells, platelets, hemoglobion, HCT, and ANC ALL came up some.  That was ONLY GOD!!!!!  Her platelets (that had dropped so drastically last week came up so drastically this week.  They are now perfect!  PTL!  She's also at a 0.6 for her counts!

THere were so difficult moments yesterday that spiked her blood pressure, BUT GOD ANSWERED OUR PRAYERS.  Even though they put the bracelet on her for a possible blood transfusion, she did NOT need one.  Even though the girl asked, "are you getting a bone marrow test,"  she did nOT.  Even though it took 3 tries (and two people) to get the chemo line in her arm, it's in and working!!!!  GOD IS SO GOOD!

Please keep praying for Middie Mom.  I  know the chem tires her, but GOd is giving her new strength.  Today the dr's nurse called and said Dr. Misleh looked further at her report and saw her magnesium was low (probably due to chemo)_, so, she now has to take 2 more pills.  Please pray that ALL her medicine will help her and NOT harm her body.  Also, she got her arasnap shot on Monday, so please pray GOd will use it to help her and not hurt her.

Please pray for Mom and Dad's safety in the tub.  We have tried SO MANY bath mats and none are holding properly.  Too many times they would have fallen if God had not spared them as I held on to them.  If anyone finds a REALLY GOOD MAT, please buy it and I will give you the money.

Also, please pray for Mom tonight.  She's going to try to sleep in her bed.  I'm going to sleep on the floor on pillows to help her in the night.  Her eyes must be really bad I (just like PP) and during the night they are worse.  Three times this week she had trouble getting to the toiiet in the middle of the night and I was holding her arm.  One time she tried to sit where there as NO TOILET.  Other t imes she's just missed walking into things. She gets up quite often so she really needs help.  Shje not object when I said that I was going to sleep on the floor to help her, and in the past , she always has.  So, I think she realizes she needs help.

PLEASE KEEP PRAYING!  Dad has not been complaining about his legs, but I believe his focus is on Middie Mom.  I know this is very hard for both of them , so please keep praying.

Thank you all for all the different ways you show your love.  We love you all and are very grateful for you.

Love and Prayers, AUntie Ann

Living With Mice

In another example of Barack Obama's failed economic policies, some mice have recently taken up residence with Faithie and AC at 31 Heatherfield Way in Dover, DE.  These mice were living at some other house down the street but due to all the recent home foreclosures we can only assume these deadbeats were evicted and decided to move in with Faithie and AC.  So a pest control expert was summoned and he said they had made a tunnel in through the air conditioner hook up the goes into the house.  Upon further inspection, sure enough we found a hole and there were mice all over!

The guy was nice enough to take some pictures:

found this one at the base of our air conditioner, he had made a hole into the house!
this free loader decided to eat a whole in our block of cheese!  probably ran out of Obama's Food Stamps

faithie found one in her sandwich too!

we found this one napping in our dog's bed with one of his toys!

Update from the Southern Command

Hi guys! A FL update ...
Rachel won the third grade writing contest for the whole school. We thought that everyone might enjoy reading her essay.

________________________________________________________________
You have a magical item at your desk. Write a story about how it helped you through the day.
Rachel’s Essay
“Class, Class!” Mrs. Sneed shouted. “This morning we will be writing about a time when you got a gift.” It was 9:00am at Royal Palm Beach Elementary School (a very busy time) and I Rachel Wells was not paying attention. That very morning I had found out that my pen was magical. So that day I let it do all of my work even writing. As my pen was writing I was reading. “Time is up” Mrs. Sneed stated. “Tonight reread your essay and edit it for your homework.” The day passed on and it came time to go home. “Rachel you need to start your homework!” My mom shouted from downstairs. “Starting” I answered. As I started rereading my essay I realized that it was not about a time when I got a gift but about how I had a secret crush on Chip a boy that sat at my table.
“Rachel think, think” I told myself “I got it” I screamed “got what?” my mom asked from the kitchen. “oh nothing” I told my mom. “I’m going to erase what my pen wrote” I whispered. As fast as a hungry huskie I ran over to my desk grabbed my eraser, and started erasing. “Oh great pen doesn’t erase” I remembered.
“I think I got it this time” I yelled “Rachel step yelling” my mom told me in an irritated voice. “Ok mom” I was going to rip out the page. “Grrrr!” I growled like a tiger.  “This page will not come out!” I was starting to get mad. “I’m going to tell Mrs. Sneed tomorrow.”
The next day when my class started writing, I told Mrs. Sneed everything. She said that I should just forget about it. After my lesson I decided to give my pen to Mrs. Sneed.

Also, Caleb's soccer team won last night 1-0 against the #2 team in their Premier league -- go awesome defense (Caleb's played center D all game). And last Sunday Caleb's team lost 5-4 against the #1 team in the division -- it was a nail biter. Caleb scored our fourth goal on a penalty kick -- very exciting.
Jacob and Sarah start Rec Soccer in one more week with Jon as their coach. I found out that I will be observed 9 times this year since I am beginning teaching all over again. This week I was observed twice - and thankfully they went very well.
Love to everyone,
Aly
