Pork's Birthday
Pork is looking great for 85 years! Even though Middie was in the hospital for these pictures, we were still blessed knowing that where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is peace.

from the recliner....
Mid has returned home safely and after some difficulty actually getting in the house, she has finally returned safe and sound to 21 Blount Road.
Right now she is resting in a recliner and being tended to by Ann with some assistance by Pork and also Aunt Paula (who is doubling as the cleaning lady too).
Middie had some trouble resting last night due to back pain and her medications caused her belly to be a bit unsettled. Overall she is doing much better and we want to continue to pray for her.
Since we don't have any current pictures of Middie in her recliner, we'll just put up this picture of Derek and some of Cecil County's finest.

Middie's Home!
After many long days in the ICU, Middie is home at last! Paula, Cathy, Harry and Ann helped Porkie Pop get her back in the house. She's taking pain meds and attempting to rest in a recliner for the time being. Please pray for her save recovery this week! More updates to come soon!
Pulling Through......
It's been a while, so let's get right to it.
The past 5 days have seen some extraordinary activity in the Team Doughten community! This past Friday, our dear Middie Mom fell down 4 steps at 21 Blount Road and was rushed to Christiana Hospital. Early reports suggest that her hair actually came off in the fall! And all this time we thought it was an unmovable, permanent fixture of Team Doughten, much like Pork's nose or Harry's bed time.
Anyway, after much pain and a prolonged stay in the emergency room, Middie was finally transferred up to ICU where she has been for the past 4 days. We've been waiting for her to move to a "normal" hospital room, but as of this writing, that hasn't happened.
This is normally the part of the blog where we would put up a bunch of fake pictures and make lame jokes, but given the circumstances, for this blog post we'll just stick to some updates and amazing blessings that God has granted:
~ Middie had a few fractures in her spine, but nothing impacted her spinal cord or required surgery
~ As of this posting, no other fractures were found anywhere which, given how she fell, is truly a miracle
~ Ann has not left the hospital since Friday, and we have had a revolving door of family both visiting Middie and staying the night with Ann (thanks to Miss Linda for making sure there were blankets and matching outfits/make-up/earrings for Ann to use during her stay with Middie.
~ Throughout the ordeal, Middie's blood cells have seemed to hold steady and despite some fluctuation in the count, nothing appears urgent at this time
~ Middie has been able to get out of bed and walk with assistance while wearing a back brace and may not need therapy.
~ It has also been reported that she was able to go to the bathroom without help
~ Most recently, there are reports coming in that she may come home in the next day or two!
~ in some sad news, Porkie Pop did not pass his eye exam for driving but in some happy news he has scheduled an appointment with the eye doctor to hopefully get things fixed.
~ Since the day of the fall last Friday, Harry has been talking non-stop about the importance of Mid needing to eat more and that if she had more "meat on her bones" she would apparently be impervious to falls. Harry went on to elaborate his position at Pork's birthday dinner this past Sunday with the following statement: "now look at middie, and then you look at johnny and I, now if he or I fell we have some meat on our bones and we wouldn't get hurt and be in better shape from the fall!" (Uncle John looks at Aunt Cath and quietly nods in agreement).
That's all for now, pictures will be forth coming of Porkie Pop's Birthday party and keep praying for Middie!

It's been a while so let's get an update!
Dear Family,
Today was a day that our God once again showed Himself faithful. MiddieMom's
legs, feet, and ankles looked swollen, so I asked the nurse to check them. After
MM got her treatment, we went to the Cardiovascular section of the Christiana
HOspital and she got a ultrasound of both legs. We praise God that the test
showed NO BLOOD CLOTS> God is SO GOOD!! WE are SO THANKFUL. Please pray
that she doesn't have other problems that are causing this swollen. She has an
appointment with the family dr. Monday afternoon.
Also, I got an email today and the sub is now going to do EVERYTHING in my
classroom. (I need to finish the kids' portfolios, but that is all) I don't
lthink the principal wants me back. This girl is really good!!!!!! It's best
for my students!!!! PLEASE PRAY that GOD SHOWS ME WANT TO DO. IF HE WANTS ME
TO RETIRE THIS YEAR< I need to know for sure that it's HIS WILL.
Financially, it seems impossible, for I know we have a GOD WHO HAS PLENTY OF
MONEY and HE WILL SUPPLY ALL OUR NEEDS. I know I can trust you to pray for all
of us!! THANKS SO MUCH. We pray for you every day too.
Please ask Aaron an email to pray for MM that this swelling will go down
and her treatment will help her and NOT hurt her. Also, PP is going to try to
get his license this week, so he needs prayer. And...his shaking is STILL
THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! even tho he's on his second bottle of wine and is almost
totally off coffee.
