What's In a Devotion Anyway?

Thought this was good devotional from Uncle Steph …

Know our faults! Admit them in confession to God – and others where appropriate!

There’s nothing wrong with asking ourselves – and God – hard questions!  Habakkuk did as he asked God ‘Why?’!  and God’s answers did not satisfy (Habakkuk 1-2).  But in the end, God’s secret mysteries were born out to reveal God’s deeper purposes.

As long as we do not stay on the questions, but finally come to the conclusion: “Yet will I wait patiently for the Lord … yet will I praise Him.”  (3:16-17).

Questions and heartaches are meant by God to deepen our faith in Him; and to remind us that we are to “walk by faith and not by sight”.  We are not to stand still in faith but be willing to take a risk (after all, when you think about walking it indicates forward motion).

Things in this life often don’t make sense: relationships, physical issues or other human struggles.  And yet Christ still gives us encouragement not to "worry" about our lives (Matthew 6:25-34) because of God's love for us.    Recently I have read a quote from a Hawaiian pastor, Wayne  Corderio:  “Faith means living in advance – what only makes sense in reverse.”   Oh we of little faith!
